How to Check Battery Health

Battery health shows how much charge a rechargeable battery can hold compared with its original design capacity. A new battery is close to 100%. Over time, normal charging, heat and usage reduce the maximum charge it can store. Use the calculator above when you have your battery’s design capacity and full charge capacity.

Battery Health Formula

Battery health = (full charge capacity ÷ design capacity) × 100. For example, a battery with a 5,000 mAh design capacity and a 4,250 mAh full charge capacity has 85% battery health. Its capacity loss, also called wear level, is 15%.

How to Improve Battery Health

Keep the device cool, use a quality compatible charger and install system updates. Avoid leaving the battery deeply discharged for long periods. Modern devices manage charging automatically, so the most useful habit is reducing sustained heat during charging, gaming or heavy workloads.

Battery Health Check FAQ

What is a good battery health percentage?

There is no single replacement point for every device, but a battery near 80% capacity may provide noticeably shorter runtime. Consider replacement when runtime no longer meets your needs, the battery swells, or the device reports a service warning.

Why can’t the live checker show every battery detail?

Browsers may limit battery information for privacy and security. The live panel shows only the details your browser makes available. For a precise health percentage, enter capacity values from your operating system’s battery report.

Are mAh and Wh interchangeable?

Use the same unit for both design capacity and full charge capacity. Do not divide mAh by Wh; convert the figures first if your report uses different units.
