Summary Metrics
A Customer Feedback Summary Tool is an essential utility for business owners, product managers, and marketers. It allows you to quickly aggregate raw star ratings into clear, actionable metrics to understand overall customer sentiment and product performance.
How to Use the Feedback Calculator
Using this tool is extremely simple. Collect the raw counts of your customer reviews from your survey platform, app store, or product page, and enter them into the corresponding fields.
- Star Counts: Enter the exact number of customers who voted for each star tier. The tool handles empty inputs automatically as zero.
- Average Rating: The calculator instantly updates the weighted average of all your reviews. This is the standard metric displayed on major review platforms.
- Total Reviews: This shows your sample size. A higher number of reviews makes your average rating more statistically reliable and trustworthy to new customers.
Understanding CSAT (Customer Satisfaction Score)
While the average rating gives you a general overview, the CSAT Score is a standard business metric used to measure immediate satisfaction. In a 5-star system, CSAT is calculated by taking the number of positive responses (4 and 5 stars) and dividing it by the total number of responses.
For example, if you have 100 reviews and 85 of them are either 4 or 5 stars, your CSAT score is 85%. Most healthy businesses aim for a CSAT score above 80%. A score below 70% usually indicates a systemic issue with the product or customer service that requires immediate attention.
