Weight Analysis
An Ideal Weight Calculator helps you discover the healthiest weight target for your body based on your height and biological sex. Maintaining an ideal body weight is highly beneficial for cardiovascular health, joint longevity, and overall energy levels. It reduces the risk of serious health conditions while improving your physical mobility.
How Your Ideal Weight is Calculated
This tool utilizes the widely respected J. D. Robinson formula alongside standard medical Body Mass Index (BMI) ranges. The mathematical formulas are specifically adjusted based on gender and height to provide a realistic and highly accurate target.
For Men: Base weight of 52 kg + 1.9 kg for every inch over 5 feet.
For Women: Base weight of 49 kg + 1.7 kg for every inch over 5 feet.
Because nobody has the exact same bone structure, the calculator also provides a Healthy Weight Range. This range gives you a broader target that accounts for differences in muscle mass and body frame sizes.
How to Use This Health Tool
- Select your biological sex from the dropdown menu.
- Enter your exact height using either the centimeters or inches input box.
- Optionally, enter your current body weight to see exactly how much weight you need to lose or gain.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the ideal weight the exact same for everyone?
No. Your ideal weight depends heavily on your biological sex and height. Additionally, people with larger bone structures or high amounts of muscle mass may naturally weigh more. This is why following the Healthy Weight Range is often better than focusing entirely on one single number.
Does muscle mass affect my ideal weight?
Yes. Muscle tissue is much denser than fat tissue. If you are a bodybuilder, an athlete, or someone who lifts weights regularly, your actual weight might be higher than your calculated ideal weight. In these unique cases, calculating your body fat percentage is a better way to assess your health.
Why do men and women have different ideal weights?
Men and women possess different biological body compositions. Generally, men have a naturally higher ratio of muscle mass and bone density compared to women of the exact same height. The medical formulas used in this calculator account for these natural biological differences to provide accurate targets.
