  • Width (e.g., 225): The first number represents the width of the tire from sidewall to sidewall in millimeters.
  • Aspect Ratio (e.g., 45): The second number is a percentage. It indicates that the sidewall height is 45% of the tire's width.
  • Rim Diameter (e.g., 17): The final number represents the diameter of the wheel (rim) that the tire is designed to fit, measured in inches. (The "R" stands for Radial construction).

Why Overall Diameter Matters
