How to Check for Touch Screen Dead Zones
Move a finger slowly in horizontal lines, then repeat with vertical lines. Pay special attention to the corners and the area near the screen bezel. A potential dead zone may leave repeated gaps in the touch trail or grid coverage even when the same area is tested carefully several times.
Important: an unlit cell does not automatically prove hardware failure. Browser zoom, page movement, a dirty screen, a thick screen protector, a damaged case or accidental palm rejection can also affect input.
Touch Screen Test vs Dead Pixel Test
A touch screen test checks whether the input layer detects taps and movement. A dead pixel test checks the display panel for pixels that remain dark, bright or stuck on one color. A screen can display an image correctly while having an unresponsive touch area, or it can register touch correctly while containing a defective pixel. These are separate tests.
